I have attended several events that have placed me in the company of several fellow Vets and Industry professionals; both have assisted me in obtaining bookings and professional development. The VFT team works really hard to hosting on-going industry events for its members that showcase first class actors, producers, directors and network representatives, whom all share their real experiences.
My GIs of Comedy standup comedy tour performed at a benefit for the Greater LA Fisher House in 2013. We promoted that show on The Kevin & Bean Show on KROQ in LA, who, because of that interview, donated proceeds from their 2014 April-Foolishness event to the Fisher House. Because of VFT we can continue taking care of our troops with our comedy & bring greater awareness to veterans issues.Standup Comedian | Writer | Producer
I am now a member of SAG-AFTRA. I booked my very first acting gig in LA because of VFT! I've since gone on to book commercials, PSA's, short films, radio talk shows and major films all because of the amazing connections I've made through VFT. This group has been extremely helpful in my professional life as well as my personal life and I am forever grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization!
I have been able to connect with people to have assisted me in furthering my efforts to promote veteran entrepreneurship and a positive image for veterans in the workplace and in their communities. VFT is an extremely valuable resource that not only needs to continue, but be expanded.
I was recruited for and cast in the world premier of the play Beyond Sight - a powerful story of a solider who volunteers to serve in Afghanistan after witnessing the Twin Towers fall. Being a part of VFT also motivated me to found my own theatre company, Warriors for Peace, where I will be taking US veterans to perform joint productions of Shakespeare with veterans from other nations.
they have opened a door of opportunites for me to begin my journey towards success. VFT was the first place that landed my first job on a film set and as well to network with other vets who are working in the industry. I had the opportunity to tell my story as a vet to Oprah Winfery Network and Make the Connection with the help of many veterans in VFT. I am honored and privilage to part of VFT.
I now work for Biscuit filmworks as a production assistant. In the last 3 weeks I have worked on over half a dozen commercial sets for large and successful companies making a good income and great connections for future work. The VFT gives veterans an advantage out here in the entrainment community. The VFT provides great opportunities for Veterans.
I learned about the GI Film Festival. I put together a small cast and crew and shot a short film entitled "The Messenger". This was my first filmmaking project which I also directed and played the lead. "The Messenger" is an official selection of the 2014 GI Film Festival in Washington DC. VFT members have given me a lot of advice and encouragement since I have been part of this group.
I secured a mentor meeting with Ron Meyer, COO Universal, selected for an upcoming writing retreat with the Writers Guild Foundation. I acted in a UCLA MFA production, participated in the GI Film Festival, Gary Sinise Foundation events`and workshops at The Groundlings, and 2nd City. I have met very talented veterans that I know I will have the pleasure to work with in the near future.
During my entire time in active army and active army reserves, I was always going to auditions for film and television. I found out about VFT several months ago, while working as a civilian on the army base. I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful group of veterans, who I feel a special connection to. Because of VFT, I have been able to connect with others in the film/t.v industry. Thanks Kyle & Mike.
