PRESS RELEASE

Atlanta, GA – 2017 marks the 40th Anniversary of the classic movie Smokey and the Bandit. On June 24th, the Bandit Jump will recreate the iconic Bandit Bridge Jump scene from the movie as part of a multi-day celebration for movie fans. This 150’ car jump will be restaged along with a series of other classic car stunts from the movie at Atlanta Motor Speedway. An elite team of Hollywood Stuntmen have joined forces to recreate this amazing stunt and all proceeds from the event will benefit Veterans in Film and Television.

In 1977, Smokey and the Bandit was the second highest grossing film, second only to Star Wars. The film was produced with a budget of only $4.3 million and grossed over $300 million. Every year, thousands of die-hard Bandit fans hit the road to celebrate this classic movie. This year, these fans will meet up in Jonesboro, Georgia, the original filming site, to enjoy a series of events to celebrate the 40th Anniversary.

Hollywood stuntman Oliver Keller and members of Stunts Unlimited, the team that created the original jump, will recreate the jump along with several other car stunts from the movie. Fans will also enjoy a pre-show performance by Convoy, the Atlanta based band that is the baddest, rootin' tootin' tribute to Outlaw Country and Southern Rock this side of the Mississippi! The Bandit Jump is being produced to raise a goal income of $1 million of combined proceeds from the event and an online crowd funding campaign to support Veterans in Film and Television.

Tickets are on sale now.  There are tickets for general admission tickets and limited VIP packages and Super VIP tickets that provide fans with the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Mr. Burt Reynolds for a photo opportunity.
